UWA had more of the offense momentum early in the match as Blazer junior goalkeeper
Claire Timberlake had five good saves through the first 20 minutes to keep the match level. VSU had two shots on target through the first 20 minutes, while UWA had seven shots during that span and five on frame.
Later in the half, Blazer freshman
Maria Rojas had a good look and UWA goalkeeper Dior Wilson was there for the save and her fourth stop of the match. The match remained scoreless at halftime as UWA had seven shots with five on target, while VSU had four shots and all on frame. VSU had five saves from Timberlake and Wilson had four for the Tigers.
Early in the second half UWA had its best look to that point in transition as Summer Fox passed to Aileen Charles and she dished to Emily Callahan who hit the top of the bar and the ball came straight down as VSU cleared it. Timberlake made a great diving save and, after a corner by UWA, senior
Ansley Decenzo and sophomore
Hunter Wallace had a breakaway in transition as Wallace's attempt hit the bar at the 53-minute mark.
The Blazers put together a nice set of passes down the near side from senior
Ana Moleka to Wallace, but were offside negating the score in the 59
th minute. The Tigers then had a free kick from just outside the 18, but the Blazers came up with a great stop as the ball hit the wall and VSU was able to clear with 15 minutes remaining.
Off a corner kick by the Tigers, Charles hit woodwork as VSU was able to clear the ball with under ten minutes to play. The game remained tied 0-0 for the first tie match of the season for the Blazers.
VSU returns home to prepare for road matches at West Florida (Oct. 11) and at Spring Hill College (Oct. 13).
