VALDOSTA, Ga. – Playing in its first true home match in nearly a month, the Valdosta State women's soccer team scored four unanswered goals and three in the second half for a thrilling 4-2 victory over Trevecca Nazarene Thursday afternoon.
The Blazers improved to 5-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 in Gulf South Conference play, while TNU fell to 2-5-3 overall and 1-3-3 in league play. In the first meeting between the two schools on the pitch, the game saw three goals in the first six minutes as the Trojans scored just 2:28 into the contest as a bad clearance by the Blazers off a free kick led to the score. TNU's Allie Windom was in the right place at the right time just in front of the goal as she chipped it over the head of junior goalkeeper

Just 1:50 later, a nice pass from Kaylee Maners to Katelyn Keough, who put it past a charging Timberlake for a 2-0 lead at the 4:18 mark. The Blazers would then use a nice pass from senior

Hunter Wallace for a score and a 2-1 deficit just 5:30 into the match for her first goal of the day and second of the season.
The match remained 2-1 through the rest of the first half, but the Blazers settled down and were more of the aggressors in the first half. VSU had a great chance at the 38:21 mark as senior
Ansley Decenzo hit the crossbar outside the box for what would have been a great goal and the potential equalizer.
For the half, both teams had four shots in the frame, while VSU had three shots on goal and TNU had four. The Blazers had three corner kicks in the half, while TNU had one. Both teams had two saves each.

For the match, VSU outshot the Trojans 15-7 and 11-3 in the second half, while VSU was led by three shots – all on target and two goals from Wallace. Timberlake had four saves for the match as VSU has scored four goals in back-to-back matches following the 4-0 win at Spring Hill College last Sunday.
