VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State Blazers will host the Auburn Montgomery Warhawks and the Montevallo Falcons on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 4 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 8 at 5 p.m.

The games will be streamed live on FloSports with Jack Calhoun having the call, while the games will be broadcast on both Talk 92.1 WDDQ FM and 94.3 WJEM Fox Sports Valdosta with Mike Chason having the call.
Valdosta State enters this weekend with a 6-6 overall record and a 3-5 record in GSC play. Auburn Montgomery enters Titletown with a 5-8 overall record and a 2-7 record in GSC play. Montevallo currently holds a 4-9 record with a 3-6 record in GSC play. The Falcons will travel to Pensacola, Fla. to take on West Florida before traveling to Valdosta to face VSU on Monday.

Mike Helfer is in his 19
th season with Valdosta State, as he holds a 355-181 overall record in his tenure. Helfer is 13-1 versus AUM all time, with their first meeting being in 2018. The Blazers are 7-0 all-time versus the Warhawks at The Complex, with VSU defeating AUM 106-88 on Feb. 18, 2023. Helfer's squad is 9-4 against Montevallo in his time in Titletown, as both teams split last season's series. Both teams took the road games, with Valdosta State winning the first game on Jan. 2, 2023, at Montevallo, 110-103, before the Falcons came to Valdosta and beat the Blazers 94-89 on Feb. 16, 2023.
The Blazers are coming off a thrilling victory on Tuesday night, downing West Florida in a 82-73 win. The Blazers trailed for a total of 35 minutes on the clock before taking a lead with 2:40 left in the game. Junior

Jay Rucker swiping a career high five, as his last one resulted in a breakaway dunk to seal the W with six seconds remaining. VSU made a season high 26 free throws as a team and scored 29 points on the fast break.
As for the Warhawks, they are traveling to Valdosta coming off a four game homestand, where they went 2-2, defeating Georgia College and Christian Brothers, and falling to Lee and most recently Union on Tuesday. AUM is led in scoring by senior guard Jalen Gaston, who is putting up impressive numbers, averaging 14.5 points per contest on .414 from three and 1.6 steals a game. As a team, the Warhawks are holding teams to .428 from the field, which is third best in the GSC. They are an aggressive team on the glass, averaging 37.2 rebounds as a team, with 13.5 coming from the offensive glass, good for second in the GSC.
Montevallo enters this matchup with Valdosta State having played three straight home games and traveling to West Florida before this matchup. The Falcons fell at home to Union on Dec. 31 56-83 before defeating Christian Brothers on Jan. 2 by a score of 72-68. UM is right below VSU in the GSC standings, holding a 3-6 conference record. Earlier this season, Montevallo defeated the then no. 3 ranked West Georgia in Montevallo to give the Falcons some momentum. As a team, UM is led in scoring by sophomore forward Jaylen Curry, who is putting up 15.8 points a contest on .568 from the field, which is good for fifth in the GSC. The Falcons are putting up 82.2 points a game, which is third in the conference.
Following the games on Saturday and Monday, the Blazers return to the road at Alabama Huntsville and at West Alabama next week, before returning home to host Shorter on Jan. 18 and Lee on Jan. 20 for Hall of Fame Weekend.
