VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State men's golf team opens the 2023-24 season Monday and Tuesday at The Griffin Invitational, hosted by Saint Leo University at the Country Club of Petersburg in Petersburg, Va.
The field features Longwood University of NCAA Division I, along with host Saint Leo, Palm Beach Atlantic, Emmanuel (Ga.), Virginia Union, Virginia State, Chowan, Catawba, Wilmington (Del.), Saint Thomas Aquinas (Fla.), Mount Olive, Coker, Belmont Abbey and Goldey Beacom (Del.)
For the Blazers, junior
Brandon Cho earned the top spot in the lineup, followed by sophomore
Ty Folsom and freshman newcomer
Landon Bassford is third in the lineup in his first collegiate tournament. Sophomore
Joshua Burki is fourth, followed by junior
Chase Long to round out the lineup for head coach
Jared Purvis, who begins his 22
nd season at the helm of the program. Junior
Parker Highsmith will be playing as an individual.
Following the tournament, the then travel to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for the Shark Invitational hosted by Nova Southeastern University Oct. 2-3.
