Christian Felline were named Steel's Jewelry Blazer Athletes of the Week. This is the first honor of the season for both Proctor and Felline.
Junior
Katie Proctor helped lead #11 Valdosta State to a series sweep at Shorter. Proctor hit .545 for the week on 6 of 11 from the dish, while scoring two runs with one double, two home runs and three RBI. She slugged 1.182 and reached base at a .615 clip with two walks. Proctor had multi-hit games in each of the games in the series and belted home runs in the first two games, along with a double in the finale. Her home run in the first game was part of a seven-run ninth inning for a 9-2 victory, while her home run in the second game came in the first inning of a 7-5 victory in eight innings.
Currently, Proctor is batting .353 with eight runs on 18 hits for two doubles, four home runs and 14 RBI. She is also slugging .627 for the season.
Senior
Christian Felline had arguably his biggest win of his career on Sunday as he won 6-3, 5-7, 6-3, over Arnau Rodriguez of No. 1-ranked Barry to clinch the upset victory, 4-3, over the Buccaneers. Felline is 2-0 this season for the 3-0 Blazers at the No. 5 spot in singles and is 1-1 in doubles this season. Felline didn't finish his singles match on Saturday versus No. 10 Lynn in the Blazers' 4-2 victory and was up 5-2 in doubles when the Blazers clinched the doubles point against the Fighting Knights.
Proctor and the No.11 Blazers are set to host No.3 Tampa in a doubleheader on Thursday, Mar. 9 at 4 p.m. before returning home on Saturday, Mar. 11 to kick off a three-game series against in-state rival, West Georgia at 2 p.m.
Felline and the men's tennis team are set to host Tuskegee on Thursday, Mar. 9 at 2 p.m before heading to Pensacola, Fla. on Friday, Mar. 10 at 11 a.m. to take on No. 8 West Alabama.
