EATONTON, Ga. – The Valdosta State men's golf team fired a first round score of 300 at the Bobcat Invitational at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee. North Georgia leads the 15-team field with a 280 score on the par 70, 6,730-yard course.
Florida Southern sits second at 281, while Columbus State is third with a 284 score, followed by West Florida (285) and a tie for fifth between Georgia Southwestern and Clayton at 288. Barry sits seventh (290), followed by South Carolina Aiken (291), Lander (292) and host Georgia College is tenth at 295. Mississippi College and Rollins are tied for 11
th at 296, followed by a tie for 13
th between Saint Leo and Coker (297) and VSU is 15
th at 300.
The tournament was cut to 36 holes from 54 holes due to freezing temperatures Monday morning and didn't start until 12 p.m. Tomorrow's final round is scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. start. Individually UNG's Stephen Kinsel fired a 67 to lead the field, while there is four-way tie for second at 69 and a nine-way tie for sixth at 70.

Parker Highsmith fired a team-best 72 and is tied for 19
th, while freshman
Joshua Burki and sophomore
Gage Winkler each opened with a 75 and sit tied for 48
th. Senior
Chase Weathers fired a 78 for a tie for 70

Ryan Pollman carded an 80 to tie for 76
th.
