INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The third and final NCAA Division II Football Super Region rankings were announced Monday afternoon with Valdosta State holding steady at No. 3 in Super Region Two, while the Blazers moved to 19th in the latest American Football Coaches Association Top 25 and 17th in the D2Football.com Top 25 poll.

The Blazers are coming off a 20-14 victory at West Alabama last Saturday to improve to 9-1 overall and 6-1 in Gulf South Conference play and will host West Georgia on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium in the final regular season game of the season.  This will be the final game played versus West Georgia as the Wolves are moving to Division I next season and will be the final game for the Peach Basket between the two schools and the final football game of the Red Clay Rivalry Series.

VSU and Delta State each are 6-1 in league play and, if the Blazers were to win on Saturday, they would secure at least a share of the program's tenth Gulf South Conference championship which would be second-most all-time in league history.  Delta State plays at home versus Mississippi College on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.

For the region rankings, Benedict (S.C.) remained the top team in the rankings this week at 10-0, while Delta State (8-1) remained second and VSU third.  Lenoir-Rhyne flipped with West Florida this week for fourth, while the Argos dropped to fifth.  Fayetteville State (N.C.) moved to sixth from seventh, followed by Virginia Union who held firm at seventh for the second-straight week.  Limestone (S.C.) moved into the rankings for the first time at eighth, followed by Miles (Ala.) and Mars Hill (N.C.) is tenth this week following a 29-27 loss to Tusculum last week.

The NCAA Division II Football Selection Show is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12 and broadcast live on NCAA.com.  Check back with vstateblazers.com later this week for more updates on the show.  Click here for the NCAA Super Region rankings.

For the postseason, the top team in Super Region Two announced Sunday will earn a first round "bye", while Nos. 2, 3 and 4 will host games on Nov. 18 against seeds 5-7.  The second round of the playoffs is scheduled for Nov. 25, while the regional final round is set for Dec. 2 and the national semifinals are Dec. 9.   The Division II National Championship game will be played at McKinney ISD Stadium in McKinney, Texas, on Dec. 16.

If the rankings were to stay the same as they are today, VSU would earn a home game on Nov. 18, as the No. 3-seed, and potentially play No. 6-seed Fayetteville State at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium as the 3/6 matchup.

VSU is 29-14 (.674) all-time in the NCAA postseason and is looking for its 19th trip to the postseason in 2023.  The Blazers have played in six national championship games in program history, with titles in 2004, 2007, 2012 and 2018.  The 29 victories in the postseason are good for fifth all-time in NCAA Division II and third-most among current NCAA Division II institutions.  Northwest Missouri State leads the way with 53, followed by Grand Valley State with 37.

The Blazers moved to 19th this week in the AFCA Top 25, following the victory on Saturday.  Colorado School of Mines leads this week's national rankings with 26 of 29 first-place votes, followed by a tie for second between Grand Valley State (Mich.) and Harding (Ark.), while Slippery Rock (Pa.) is fourth and Benedict is fifth.  Delta State sits 11th this week after its win over West Georgia, followed by the Blazers at 19th and Virginia Union is 20th with the last remaining first-place nod.  West Florida moved back into the rankings at 25th for teams from Super Region Two.  Virginia State and Mars Hill are among others receiving votes.

As for the D2Football.com Top 25, VSU checks in at 17th, moving up two spots from 19th.  Colorado School of Mines leads that poll, followed by Grand Valley State, Ferris State, Harding and Slippery Rock.  Delta State is 11th, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne at 13th and VSU.  Virginia Union is 19th, while West Florida is 21st.
