VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State Lady Blazers host one matchup at home on Tuesday night versus Clayton State, as men's basketball will hit the road for a weekend matchup and football heads to Cleveland, Miss. to face fellow GSC Champion Delta State in round two of the NCAA DII Playoffs.
Football:
The No. 14-ranked Blazer football team had a dominate display on Saturday afternoon at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium, beating the Limestone Saints by a score of 62-41 in round one of the NCAA DII Playoffs. Junior
Sammy Edwards set a record by throwing six touchdown passes, which is the most for one player in a playoff game in VSU history. Valdosta State improved to 11-1 on the season, as head coach
Tremaine Jackson got his first career playoff win as a head coach. The Blazers will head to GSC foe and No. 8-ranked Delta State in round two of the NCAA DII Playoffs, with kickoff slated for 2 p.m. ET.
There will be a watch party at Georgia Beer Co. on Saturday at 2 p.m. to support the Blazer football team.
Women's Basketball:
The 2-1 Lady Blazers will host Clayton State on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at The Complex. VSU is coming off a 75-59 home-opener victory over Brewton-Parker. This will be the last non-conference game before the Lady Blazers hit the road for a trip to Lee and Shorter. Senior
Emma Martin is leading the Blazers in scoring, averaging 16.0 points per game on 58.6% from the field, while shooting 11-19 (57.9%) from three. Right behind her is junior
Kalifa Ford, who is scoring 15.0 points and hauling in 7.3 rebounds per game.
Men's Basketball:
The Blazers will be on the road this week after going 2-0 at home this past weekend with wins over Clinton College and Trinity Baptist College. The 3-1 Blazers will hit the road with the Lady Blazers as they head up north to Lee and Shorter to start GSC play. Junior
Caden Boser had an excellent week, scoring a season-high 26 points on Thursday night's win over Clinton College on 10-16 shooting. Boser is now shooting 10-22 (45.5%) from behind the arc on the season.
