VALDOSTA, Ga.- The Valdosta State volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (15-25, 20-25, 17-25) decision to Gulf South Conference rival Auburn Montgomery at The Complex Wednesday evening.

VSU fell to 15-10 with a 7-3 mark in the Gulf South Conference while AUM improved to 18-8 overall and 7-4 in conference play. The loss marks the second time VSU has lost at home this season as the Blazers are now 9-2 at The Complex.

First Set:
In the first set of the match, the Warhawks rushed out to an 8-4 lead. The Blazers tried to fight back, but a 7-6 run in favor of AUM gave the Warhawks a five-point lead, 15-10. With AUM continuing to build its lead, the Blazers continued to strike. However, the lead became too far out of reach as the Warhawks closed the set out on a 10-5 run to take the first set, 25-15

Second Set:
The Blazers came out hot in the second set, taking a narrow 9-6 lead following a service ace from junior
Kaia Baker. The Warhawks got right back in the matchup on a 3-0 rally to tie things up at 9-9. VSU broke the tie with two-straight points, but AUM struck back with a massive 10-2 run to take over the set, 19-13. Valdosta State answered back with a 6-2 rally to make things closer at 21-19. However, Auburn Montgomery closed the match out on a 4-1 run to take the second set, 25-20.

Third Set:
With the match on the line, AUM came out firing on all cylinders, taking a quick 10-5 lead in the early minutes of the frame. The Blazers fought right on back, bringing the set within two in a flash, 11-9. However, the Warhawks pulled away again, out scoring the Blazers 6-1 down the stretch to take a seven-point lead, 17-10. VSU scored four consecutive points to bring it within three, 17-14, but the Warhawks struck back with a 6-1 run to shut down the Blazer comeback, 23-15. The set ended with each team scoring two more points. as AUM took the third and final set, 25-17.
