PENSACOLA, Fla.- The Valdosta State volleyball team dropped a hard fought 3-1 (21-25, 20-25, 25-15, 13-25) decision to West Florida in Pensacola, Fla. Saturday afternoon.

VSU fell to 15-11 with a 7-4 mark in the Gulf South Conference while UWF improved to 20-6 overall, remaining a perfect 12-0 in conference play.

First Set:
West Florida struck first out of the gate, building a 11-3 lead in a flash. Following a VSU timeout, the Argonauts continued to hold their lead, going up 22-14 down the stretch. The Blazers went on a 4-0 run to make the contest a four-point affair at 22-18 before UWF scored two more to force set point at 24-18. VSU went on a 3-0 run before the Argonauts closed out the set at 25-21.

Second Set:
The Argonauts kicked off the second set by taking a narrow 11-8 lead at the beginning of the frame. The Blazers answered right back, outscoring the Argonauts 5-2 to tie things up at 13-13. UWF snatched back the lead on a 7-2 rally, taking a five-point lead, 20-15. VSU ended up making things a little interesting, bringing the set within three following a 4-2 run by the Blazers at 22-19. However, the Argonauts ended the set on a 3-1 run to take set two, 25-20.

Third Set:
Down 2-0, the Blazers came out firing on all cylinders in the third set, taking a 13-9 lead in the early moments of the set. VSU continued its offensive blitz by rallying for a 6-1 run to go up by nine, 19-10. UWF ended up scoring five more points in the set, but the Blazer lead was too much for the Argos to overcome as junior
Christina Pettigrew ended the set with a kill, 25-15.

Fourth Set:
The Blazers and Argonauts began the fourth set, trading points back and forth until the set became knotted up at 8-8. However, the Argonauts ended up pulling away on a big 12-3 run to go up 20-11. West Florida ended the set on a 5-2 run to take set four 25-13 and the match, 3-1.
