VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State men's cross country senior Logan Kraus was named Second Academic All-America as selected by CoSIDA, announced earlier this week.  Kraus is the first Blazer men's or women's cross country student-athlete to be named Academic All-America by CoSIDA in school history.

Kraus, a native of Melbourne, Fla., is earning his master's degree in business administration from VSU and has a perfect 4.0 grade point average.  He is one of just two student-athletes from the Gulf South Conference to earn Academic All-America honors this season as Alabama Huntsville's Alex Herbst also earned second team honors.

This past season, Kraus helped lead VSU to a sixth-place finish at the GSC Championships and helped lead the team to the second fastest team average in 40 years at the NCAA South Regional (34:35).  Kraus and the Blazers finished ninth at the regional for first time earning a top ten finish as a team since 2014.    He set a PR with a time of 25:59.8 at the Royals Challenge (8K) in Charlotte, N.C., on Oct. 8, 2021.

Kraus earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors in 2021 and 2019, while he earned CoSIDA Academic All-District accolades in 2021.  He also has been a member of the GSC Academic Honor Roll each of his years in Titletown and a multiple honoree on the VSU Dean's List.

He became the 24th different VSU student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors as selected by CoSIDA in school history and is 27th overall honoree.  Of the Blazers' 12 intercollegiate athletic sports, men's cross country became the 11th to have an Academic All-American as selected by CoSIDA.
