VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State baseball team is set to host Flagler College on Wednesday, April 27 at 6 p.m., for its final game of the regular season at Billy Grant Field at Tommy Thomas Park.

The Blazers are 28-12 overall and 17-9 in Gulf South Conference play and head into the midweek game after winning their weekend series against rival GSC foe, West Florida, in Pensacola, Fla. Valdosta State opened the series with a 6-4 win on Friday, but then split Saturday's doubleheader dropping game one, 11-0 and taking game two, 11-0.

Valdosta State looks to sweep Flagler College for their season series as they defeated the Saints twice already this season. The Blazers topped the Saints 1-0 on March 3, in St. Augustine, Fla., and 9-5 on March 30, in Valdosta, Ga. VSU now leads the all-time series with the Saints 21-12, while winning five-straight.

Flagler College is currently 23-23 overall and 15-9 in the Peach Belt Conference. As a team, the Saints are hitting .279 with 440 hits, 271 runs scored, 92 doubles, five triples and 18 home runs, while driving in 250. The team is slugging at a .378 clip and reaching base at a .366 average. On the bump, the Bobcats boast a 4.65 ERA in 399 innings of work. They have allowed 417 hits, 235 runs – 206 earned, walked 159 and fanned 354. The Saints have won five-straight games and are 7-8 since the Blazers and the Saints last played on Mar. 30.

EJ Doskow leads the team in average at a .397 for third in the GSC and is 54 of 136 from the dish. He has scored 37 runs for second on the team while his 54 hits lead the team. Doskow has a team-high 12 doubles and nine home runs as both lead the team. He has driven in 52 runs, while he is slugging .684 for the season and reaching base at a .488.

Luke Ard is second in average at a .373 on 47 of 126 from the plate. He has ten doubles, one triple, one home run, and 27 RBI. Junior
Ryan Romano is third in average at a .308 on 45 of 146 from the plate. He has scored 42 runs to lead the team, while recording eight doubles, one triple, one home run, and 17 RBI. Gandy leads the team in stolen bases at 16 for 20 for the season. Â

As a team, the Blazers are hitting .287 on the year with 264 runs scored, 368 hits, 71 doubles, nine triples, 22 home runs, and 227 RBI. The team is slugging .407, while reaching base at a .384 and going 50 of 72 in stolen bases.

On the mound, the Blazers have a 4.12 ERA in 327.1 innings of work. VSU has fanned 275 and walked 109 for the season as teams are hitting .265 against it. Senior
Elijah Gill leads the team with a 2.47 ERA for first in the GSC and an 8-1 record in 11 starts. He has one complete game and one shutout, while combining for another. Gill leads the team in innings pitched at 69.1, while he has allowed 33 runs on 71 hits, 19 earned runs, walked 18 and fanned a team-high 81 for second in the GSC. The opposition is hitting .250 against him.

The Valdosta State baseball team has the honor of highlighting junior pitcher
Brandon Raiden as this week's Gulf South Conference pitcher of the week, announced by the league office Tuesday. For the week, Raiden boasted a 0.00 ERA, a 1-0 record with one complete game shutout, nine innings pitched, three hits allowed, walked two and fanned eight as the opposition hit .097 against him.

In week 11, the Blazers are ties for fourth in the latest NCBWA South Region Top Ten, as Tampa leads the poll, followed by Florida Southern. Rollins sits third in the poll, followed by Delta State and Valdosta State ties for fourth. Saint Leo is sixth, Nova Southeastern is seventh, followed by Savannah State, Montevallo, and West Florida. VSU is 18th in the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 25.
