No. 39 Blazers Tied for Fourth Following Two Rounds of Gulf South Conference Championship

MOBILE, Ala. – Valdosta State graduate student Wesley Hanson fired a 4-under for 36-holes Friday at the 2022 Gulf South Conference Championship on the par 72, 7,212-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course.  Hanson sits third with a 140 score (70-70), while the No. 39 Blazers are tied for fourth with a 589 score on rounds of 299 and 289.
 
No. 3-ranked Lee leads the ten-team field with an 11-under 565 score on rounds of 282 and 283, while No. 13 West Florida is second with a 578 score, followed by No. 29 West Georgia with a 585 score.  The Blazers and Christian Brothers are tied for fourth as CBU fired rounds of 298 and 290 on Monday. 
 
Shorter sits sixth with a 591 score, three shots back of the Blazers and Bucs.  No. 31 Delta State is seventh at 599, followed by a tie for eighth between Montevallo and Union at 602, while Mississippi College is tenth at 605. 
 
Individually, there is a tie for the top spot as West Florida's No. 8-ranked Elias Haavisto and Lee's No. 18 Connor Pollman, brother of Blazer sophomore Ryan Pollman, are 5-under 139.  Haavisto fired a 75 and finished the day with a tournament low round of 64, while C. Pollman carded rounds of 68 and 71.  Following Hanson, Lee's No. 2-ranked Beck Burnette and Union's No. 33-ranked JJ Zimer are tied for fourth at 3-under 141. 
 
For the Blazers, junior Chase Weathers heads into the final round tied for 17th on rounds of 77 and 70 for a 147 score.  Redshirt freshman Brandon Cho sits tied for 32nd with a 152 score on rounds of 78 and 74, while senior Gage Smith and R. Pollman are tied for 41st each carding a 155 score.  Smith fired rounds of 80 and 75, while Pollman fired a 74 and an 81.
