PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Valdosta State women's tennis team posted a 4-3 victory Friday afternoon over Christian Brothers at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex in a Gulf South Conference neutral site match.
The Blazers improved to 5-8 on the year and 4-1 in GSC play, while CBU fell to 13-4 and 4-4 in league play. VSU won the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles as freshmen sisters

Magda Tuells Bonet won at No. 2, 6-3. CBU's Raquel Amaro and Maud Vandeputte won 6-3 at the top spot over senior

Heading into singles,
Andrea Barrio won at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Nellina Wooten for a 2-0 lead. CBU got on the board with a win at No. 2 as Vandeputte won 7-5, 6-2, over freshman
Elisa Beau, but VSU came back to clinch the match with wins at Nos. 3 and 4 as Starreveld won at No. 3, 6-3, 6-1, for a 3-1 lead and
Adriana Barrio won at No. 4, 6-3, 7-5. CBU won at Nos. 1 and 6 to finish the match.
VSU returns to action with two matches Saturday as it battles West Georgia at 9:30 a.m. ET in the Red Clay Rivalry Series and then faces Mississippi College at 2 p.m. ET. The Blazers are scheduled to conclude the weekend with a 10:30 a.m. ET match on Sunday against No. 11 West Alabama.
