VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's tennis team opened Gulf South Conference play with a 7-0 victory over Shorter Friday afternoon at the VSU Tennis Complex.  VSU improved to 2-5 on the year, while Shorter fell 2-6 and 0-4 in league play.
 
Blazer freshmen duo of Elisa Beau and Magda Tuells Bonet won 6-0 at No. 3 and senior Hera Brynjarsdottir Bjork and sophomore Julia Saving won at No. 2, 6-2, to claim the doubles point. 

Heading to singles, the Blazers made quick work winning all six singles matches in straight-sets, including three matches of 6-0, 6-0 victories.  Freshmen sisters Andrea Barrio and Adriana Barrio posted bagels, as did freshman Anastasiia Vorobiova.
 
The Blazers return to action on Saturday at 10 a.m., at the VSU Tennis Complex vs. Lee University.  Check back Saturday afternoon for a complete recap and stats of the match.
