VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State men's and women's tennis teams complete the Gulf South Conference-opening weekend sweep as both teams defeated Lee University Saturday morning at the VSU Tennis Complex. The No. 2-ranked Blazer men's team won 5-2, while the women's team posted a 6-1 victory.
The Blazer men's team improved to 4-3 on the year and 2-0 in league play as it snapped Lee's six-match winning streak. The Flames fell to 6-2 on the year and 0-2 in league play. With a good crown on hand and a beautiful morning in South Georgia, the Blazers won the doubles point winning at Nos. 2 and 3. Sophomores

Cameron Henricy Trigolos won at No. 6 over Drew Johnston, 6-2, 6-3, to give VSU a 2-0 lead, while graduate student
Swann Flohr downed Wilhan Van Der Merwe, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 for a 3-0 lead. Mack, ranked 12
th nationally, clinched the match at No. 1 with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) victory over Ramirez. Lee's Jordi Dasi won at No. 2 over Bartley in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, while Diego Garcia downed No. 29 Carvalho at No. 3 singles, 5-7, 7-6 (7-5) and 10-3 in the super tiebreaker. Wedel won at No. 4 over Medeiros, 6-7, 6-3, 6-4.
For the women, who improved to 3-5 overall and 2-0 in league play, while Lee fell to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play, the Blazers won all three doubles matches with freshmen

Magda Tuells Bonet opening with a 6-1, victory at No. 3, followed by a 6-4 win for sophomore

In singles, freshman Andriana Barrio won at No. 6 over Hayden Smith, 6-3, 6-1, for a 2-0 lead, while freshman
Anastasiia Vorobiova won at No. 3 by retirement for the victory. Ashleigh Simes won at No. 1 for Lee over Kohoutkova, 6-3, 5-7, 10-5 in the super tiebreaker, but Tuells Bonet and Beau won at Nos. 2 and 4, respectively, to finish the match.
