VALDOSTA, Ga. – The No. 43 Valdosta State men's golf team fired a final round 304 to finish tied for 15
th at the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta. VSU carded an 896 score for the 54-hole tournament (300, 292, 304).
No. 4-ranked Lincoln Memorial won the 18-team tournament with an 861 score, edging No. 21 Columbus State by one stroke, while No. 6 Lee finished third at 865. No. 15 Lander was fourth (868) and No. 11 Georgia Southwestern rounded out the top five with an 871 score.
Individually, Columbus State's Jordan Doull took medalist honors with a 6-under 210, followed by Jonty Marshall of Tampa at 5-under 211. Lee's Beck Burnette fired a final round 67 to move up 21 places to finish third at 4-under 212.
For the Blazers, graduate student
Wesley Hanson carded rounds of 70, 75 and 75 for a 220 score to finish tied for 34
th. Junior
Chase Weathers finished tied for 49
th with a 224 score (78-71-75), while redshirt freshman
Peyton Balent fired three rounds of 76 for a 228 score and tied for 66
th. Sophomore
Ryan Pollman tied for 72
nd with a 239 score on rounds of 76, 75 and 78 and senior
Gage Smith tied for 78
th with a 231 score on rounds of 80, 71 and 80 for a 231 score.
The Blazers have a quick turnaround as they prepare for the Bobcat Invitational, scheduled for Mar. 21-22 in Eatonton, Ga., at Cuscowilla Golf Club.
