Men’s Golf Sits 14th Following Two Rounds of First Federal Southeastern Collegiate

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The No. 43 Valdosta State men's golf team fired a 36-hole score of 592 (300-292) on the first day of the 2022 First Federal Southeastern Collegiate at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.  Heading into Tuesday's final round, No. 21 Columbus State and No. 4 Lincoln Memorial lead the 18-team field each with a 571 score, while No. 6 Lee sits third with a 574 score.
 
Following the top three, No. 8 Lander is fourth after opening with a 295 and firing a 281 in the second round to move up eight spots for a 576.  No. 9 Nova Southeastern rounds out the top five with a 579 score.  Top-ranked Barry is sixth at 581, followed by No. 16 West Florida (582), while there is a three-way tie for eighth between No. 17 Saint Leo, No. 11 Georgia Southwestern and No. 49 Tampa at 584.  VSU is eight strokes out of the top ten heading into the final round. 
 
Individually, Tampa's Jonty Marshall leads the field with a 7-under 137 (67-70) on the par 72, 7,461-yard course.  Columbus State's Jordan Doull is second at 5-under with a 139.  In all, 14 players are under par and another nine fired even par 144.  VSU graduate student Wesley Hanson leads the way for the Blazers at +1 for a 145 score on rounds of 70 and 75 to sit tied for 24th
 
Blazer Junior Chase Weathers is tied for 54th with a 149 score on rounds of 78 and 71, while sophomore Ryan Pollman and senior Gage Smith are tied for 67th with a 151 score.  Pollman carded rounds of 76 and 75, while Smith opened with an 80 and finished with a 71.  Freshman Peyton Balent is tied for 71st with a 152 score on rounds of 76 and 76.
