VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State sophomore Luca Mack and freshman Lamar Bartley were named Gulf South Conference Player and Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced.  This is the third weekly honor for Mack and second for Bartley.
 
Mack finished the week with a 2-1 record in singles and a 2-0 mark in doubles.  The sophomore took down Barry's Alejandro Palacios, 6-3, 0-6, 13-11 as VSU knocked off No. 5 Barry for just t he second time in the last 13 meetings.  Palacios is ranked ninth in NCAA Division II.  Mack won singles matches against Shorter and Lee helping lead VSU to a 5-3 record this season and a 2-0 mark in the GSC.
 
For the spring season, Mack is 5-3 in singles at the top spot in the lineup and is 3-4 in doubles, playing with both sophomore Rodrigo Carvalho and sophomore Edward Etty. 
 
Bartley, went 2-1 in both singles and doubles as he clinched the 4-3 win over Barry after defeating Allesandro Guillato, 7-6, 2-6, 10-6 on Monday.  He won both of his matches versus Shorter in singles and in doubles with junior Chistian Felline.

This season, Bartley is 4-4 in singles at No. 2, while he is 6-2 at No. 2 doubles all with Felline, as the duo leads the team in wins for doubles.
