Offensively, redshirt senior Luke Ard went 4 for 5 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored.  Junior David Crawford was 2 for 5 with three runs scored and an RBI and senior Jisjar Clotida went 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Prior to the weekday game, the Blazers hosted Alabama Huntsville last weekend where they won the opener in commanding fashion, 7-0 and then won the rubber-match on Sunday, 8-4 for the series win.

This weekend the Blazers look to end Lee's eight game win streak as VSU has five wins and 13 losses against the Flames. The last faceup between these two teams was on May 9, 2021, when the Flames topped the Blazers 13-7. The Blazers are 1-6 on the Flames in Cleveland, Tenn.

The Valdosta State baseball team had the honor of highlighting senior pitcher Elijah Gill and junior infielder EJ Doskow as this week's Gulf South Conference pitcher and co-player of the week, announced by the league office Tues., Feb. 22.

Last week, Gill pitched seven scoreless innings and recorded the win (2-1) against Alabama Huntsville in game one of the doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 19.  The Jacksonville, Fla. native tallied six strikeouts, gave up eight hits, and walked one.

Doskow had a huge week for the Blazers going 8-14 at the dish hitting a .571. The Miami, Fla. native tallied three doubles, one home run, nine RBI, six runs, 14 total bases, and walked three times, helping lead VSU a 3-1 record last week.  Doskow finished the week with a 1.000 slugging percentage, 1.000 fielding percentage, and a .611 on base percentage.

After the weekend away series, the Blazers are back on the road for a non-conference game against Flagler College on Wed., Mar. 2, at 5 p.m.
