Grace Daugherty were named the Steel's Jewelry Blazer Athletes of the Week, announced Thursday.
This week marks the third week for Steel's Jewelry Blazer Athletes of the Week for this season as volleyball recorded victories versus Georgia College and USC Aiken, while the cross country teams competed in the highly competitive Florida State Cross Country Open.
Daugherty, a native of Gainesville, Fla., recorded 11 kills and three blocks in the win against Georgia College and recorded five kills and one block in the win over USC Aiken. USC Aiken was previously undefeated going into the match, and the Blazers came out on top in four sets 3-1, last Saturday in Milledgeville, Ga.
Cipriani, a native of Thomasville, Georgia finished the FSU XC Open as the 9
th DII runner across the line with a time of 22:54.6. Cipriani also passed 77 people after the first 1170m of the race.
The Blazer cross country teams are back in action Oct. 2, in Saint Leo, Fla., for the NCAA DII National Preview. The women will tackle a 6K race while the men will compete in an 8K race starting at 8:15 a.m. The Blazer volleyball team continues at home Friday at 6 p.m., against West Georgia at The Complex.
