VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State women's soccer standouts
Lauren Hicks,
Kyleigh Reedy and
Paige Taylor were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. The three selections for the Blazers were the second-most by one team in the district as Mississippi College had five selections to lead the way.
The trio became the first CoSIDA Academic All-District selections since former Blazer Suvi Savolainen earned the honor in 2018 and was named Third Team Academic All-America as selected by CoSIDA that season.
Hicks, a junior health sciences major with a 3.82 grade-point average had a great spring for the Blazers helping lead the team to a 3-2-2 record and a 3-0-2 mark in the Gulf South Conference. The Orlando, Fla., native, has played in 43 games for her career with 25 starts. She has scored 12 goals with seven assists for 31 points. Hicks is fifth all-time in both career points and goals.
She earned GSC Academic Honor Roll accolades in 2018, 2019 and 2021. This season she finished third on the team with five points on two goals and one assist. She had ten shots and seven on target for the season.
Reedy, a junior nursing major with a 3.86 GPA earned GSC All-Academic honors this spring and GSC Academic Honor Roll in 2018, 2019 and 2021. She has played in 42 games with 37 starts for the Blazers and has scored four goals with seven assists for her career. For her time with the red and black, she has 28 shots with 15 on frame and logged 2,758 minutes.
This past spring, Reedy, a Middleburg, Fla., native, was instrumental in the Blazers' success as she finished second on the team in scoring with seven points on two goals and three assists.
Taylor, a native of Auburn, Ga., stamped an outstanding career for the Blazers playing in 61 games with 51 starts. She scored four goals and had four assists for 12 points for her career, helping lead VSU to a 35-22-5 record over her career. She graduated with a 3.50 GPA in marketing.
She logged 4,758 minutes for fifth all-time in program history, while she leads the school record book in penalty kicks, going 3 for 4 all-time including 2 for 2 this past spring. She earned GSC Academic Honor Roll accolades each of her seasons at VSU.
