NCAA Division II Men’s Tennis Selection Show Set for 8 p.m. Tuesday Evening on NCAA.com

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Coming off a 4-2 victory in the Gulf South Conference Championship over rival West Florida, the No. 3 Valdosta State men's tennis team will find out what seed it is as the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis National Championship field is scheduled to be unveiled Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.  VSU earned the automatic bid for the GSC to the NCAA regional by virtue of it winning the conference championship.

The Blazers downed the Argos for the second time this season in the GSC title match and are second in the South Region, according to the latest NCAA region rankings behind Barry University.  West Florida was third in the final released rankings, while Delta State was fourth and Saint Leo was fifth.  Auburn Montgomery was sixth, followed by Embry-Riddle. 
 
This will be the 26th time VSU has qualified for the NCAA postseason and are 52-23 all-time with two national championships and three runner-up finishes.  This marks the seventh-straight time (no tournament in 2020 due to COVID-19), VSU has qualified for the NCAA postseason and the 52 victories are fifth-most in NCAA Division II.  
 
For the regional this season, UWF was awarded hosting duties and five teams will qualify for the regional, scheduled for May 7-9 at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex in Pensacola, Fla.  The Nos. 4/5 teams will battle on Friday, May 7, with the winner advancing to play the top-seed on Saturday, while the Nos. 2/3 seeds also will face each other on Saturday.  The regional championship is set for Sunday, May 9.  
 
The winner of the regional will advance to the NCAA Division II National Men's Tennis Championships in Surprise, Ariz., May 18-21.
