VALDOSTA, Ga. – Following its three-game sweep of West Alabama last weekend, the Valdosta State softball team moved to No. 2 in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top 25, released Wednesday afternoon.
Augustana (S.D.) leads the poll this week unanimously with 400 points and all 16 first-place votes. VSU is second with 380 points, moving up one spot from last week. North Georgia and UT Tyler (Texas) are tied for third with 358 points, while Indianapolis is fifth with 328 points.
Rollins from the South Region is eight this week, while GSC members Alabama Huntsville sits 13th, West Florida is 20th and Auburn Montgomery is 23rd. Saint Leo is among others receiving votes.

The Blazers are 25-3 on the year and 19-2 in Gulf South Conference play to lead the GSC. VSU has won won 14-straight games dating back to Mar. 14 and has swept its last three conference series'. VSU is playing at Albany State in a single game Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m., and will return home to host West Georgia for Senior Weekend. The series this weekend is scheduled for a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 2 p.m., followed by a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.
