VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Valdosta State baseball program will hold its annual Fall Baseball Academy, Oct. 7 through Nov. 4 at Billy Grant Field at Tommy Thomas Park.

Under the direction of Blazer head baseball coach Greg Guilliams, the VSU Fall Baseball Academy provides players the opportunity to face off in a highly competitive setting for campers in grades 9-12.  The Academy kicks off with a pro-style combine workout, featuring 60-yard times, throwing/fielding evaluations, batting practice, bat speed calculation and an information session.  The combine workout is scheduled to begin at 5:45 p.m. on Thurs., Oct. 7.

Players then will be placed on teams and will play games for four weeks with games beginning at 5:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. for the two sessions of the camp, beginning Thurs., Oct. 14.  Each game will be a maximum of 90 minutes.

This camp is for the serious high school player who wants a challenge and is looking to improve their skills in an intense, structured collegiate setting. Over the course of the eight sessions, campers are guaranteed 7 games, evaluation and instruction from the VSU coaching staff.

A new feature this year is hitting instruction with the VSU coaches on Wednesday evenings in the VSU Baseball Indoor Hitting Facility.  It is a "pay-as-you-go" for $20 for a 30-minute session.

The cost for the Fall Baseball Academy is $180 per camper or $2,000 per team.  Campers are required to bring helmets, gloves, bats and drinks.  Players cannot share equipment and water fountains will not be in use.  Social distancing and masks will be optional in the dugouts and in the stands.
