HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Valdosta State volleyball team dropped in three sets to the Chargers of Alabama Huntsville. The Blazers fall to 11-16 on the season and 4-7 in the GSC while the Chargers improve to 17-7 on the season and 9-2 in the GSC.

First Set:
The Blazers took the lead the first set with a kill from graduate
Deona Mims, but it was followed by a Chargers kill as the set became tied at three.

The match continued to go back and forth as VSU recorded kills from freshman
Jojo Smith, and sophomore
Kennedy DeLuca with the score tied at 15.

The Chargers began to take the lead 17-15, scoring from a service ace and VSU attacking errors as head coach Kaleigh Zouch called a timeout.

UAH continued to rally as they brough the score to 19-15 as VSU used their second timeout of the set.

The Blazers continued to fight back but were unsuccessful as the Chargers took the first set 25-17.

Second Set:
UAH took the lead 6-1 the second set as they scored from kills and VSU errors.

Smith tallied another kill and sent senior
Rebecca Sills back to the serving line as the Blazers looked to start a rally, 6-4.

Still trailing 9-6, the Blazers rallied back and tied the match at 12 with a service ace from redshirt freshman
Lyara Rosario.

VSU took the lead 14-12, with a kill and service ace and caused a Chargers timeout.

With the score at 17-16 in favor of the Blazers, the Chargers continued to fight back and tied the match at 17.

UAH took the lead again at 22-20 and went on to take the second set 25-21.

Third Set:
The Chargers took the lead the third set 3-0 but gave the ball to the Blazers from a service error.

UAH grew their lead to 7-1 and VSU called an early timeout as they looked to stop the Chargers rally.

The Blazers continued to trail 11-4 as Mims and Smith both record kills looking to fight back.

Smith and sophomore
Keelyn Williams recorded kills, but it wasn't enough as the Chargers took the set 25-13 and the match 3-0.

Inside the Numbers:
The Blazers tallied 45 digs, 26 kills, 24 assists, four blocks, and three service aces. Smith led VSU with 12 kills followed Mims with nine. Rosario led with 14 digs as redshirt freshman
Ramsey Marshall and Smith each added nine. Senior
Tammy Reyes-Perez and junior
Erin Ergle both added nine assists as Rosario added four. DeLuca, graduate
Grace Daugherty, and redshirt freshman all added two blocks.

The Blazers are on the road again on November 2, at 6 p.m., facing Shorter University in Rome, Ga. Following the away game, VSU faces Christian Brothers on November 5, at 7 p.m., at Valdosta High School.
