CLEVELAND, Tenn.. – The Valdosta State women's soccer team fell to No. 9 Lee Sunday afternoon, 3-0
. The match marked the first Gulf South Conference loss for the Blazers as they fell to 5-2-1 overall and 2-1-1 in GSC play. Lee improved to 9-0 on the season and 6-0 in conference play.
The Flames dominated the first half of the match, claiming 57% possession with nine shots and amassing five corner kicks. Lee's Riley Henry started the scoring for the Flames, putting away a shot left of VSU senior goalkeeper
Samantha Blanford in the sixth minute for the early lead, 1-0. Blanford finished the match with two saves.
In the 38th minute, Lee's Lauren Weimer slotted another goal home for a 2-0 Lee lead going into halftime. VSU was outshot by the Flames 9-1 in the first half.
In the second half, the Flames continued its dominating offense, holding the Blazers to three shots with none on frame. Lee put up five shots with two on frame and scored the final goal of the match in the 78th minute from Regan Henkey.

Taylor Morris, and Malania Aronson all recorded a shot, but VSU couldn't capitalize on its chances.
Looking ahead, the Blazers continue on the road next week traveling to Mississippi College on Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. ET and at Delta State on Oct. 10 also at 2 p.m. ET. VSU then returns home to host Union on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at the VSU Soccer Complex.
