VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's soccer team fell to the Christian Brothers Buccaneers, 1-0, Sunday afternoon to record their first loss at home on the season. The Blazers fall to 7-4-1 on the year, 4-3-1 in Gulf South Conference play, while the Buccaneers improve to 8-4-1 on the year and 6-2-1 in GSC play.

The Blazers dominated possession throughout the game. In the first half, VSU outshot the Buccaneers 7-0. Sophomore forward
Bailey Hern had a shot fly just over the crossbar in the 15th minute, another shot just left of the frame in the 18th minute, and then another chance in the 20th minute from a point-blank header saved by CBU's goalkeeper Riley Chafin.

Hern ended the match with six shots and three on frame, and the Blazers ended the first half tied with CBU, 0-0.

In the second half, the Blazers picked up a total of five corner kicks, but couldn't capitalize on the opportunities. Freshman goalkeeper
Emma Pruett had a point-blank save in the 58th minute and a huge save in the 85th minute to keep the Blazers locked at 0-0.

 In the 86th minute, CBU finally capitalized off a corner kick from Bailey Tadlock, put in by Amanda Dutra, to bring the final scoreline to 1-0 in favor of the Buccaneers.

The Blazers finished the match with ten shots, five on frame, and eight corner kicks, while Pruett played all 90 minutes between the pipes and recorded three saves and allowed one goal past her.

The series between CBU and VSU moves to 7-3-1 all-time and 3-1-1 in Valdosta. The Blazers are back in action next Friday against West Alabama at 7 p.m. and turns around and hosts Alabama Huntsville next Sunday at 1 p.m.
