VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's soccer team defeated the West Alabama Tigers 3-1 Friday night in the team's annual pink-out game. The Blazers improve to 8-4-1 on the year, 5-3-1 in Gulf South Conference play, while the Tigers fall to 7-3-2 on the year and 5-2-1 in the GSC.

The Blazers started their scoring campaign early in the first half, with a goal from senior
Kyleigh Reedy in the 10th minute of action. Freshman
Taylor Morris assisted the goal after a solo run down the left side of the pitch. Reedy finished the match with one shot, one goal, and an assist, while Morris finished the game with one assist.

The Tigers scratched back in the 29th minute scoring off a corner kick put in by Lucy Horn to even the scoreline at 1-1.

The Blazers ended the first half with another goal in the 39th minute, scoring off a corner kick from Reedy, put in the back of the net off a header from
Lauren Hicks. The Blazers went into the locker room with a slight advantage over the Tigers, 2-1.

In the second half, the Blazers continued to dominate possession, working the ball on both sides of the pitch. In the 75th minute,
Molly Wooldridge showed off her skills and capitalized off a solo effort for an insurance goal, making the final score 3-1. Wooldridge finished the match with three shots, two on goal, and scored her seventh goal of the season.

The Blazers ended the match with ten shots and four corner kicks, while the Tigers ended the 90 minutes with six shots and five corners.

Freshman goalkeeper
Emma Pruett played all 90 minutes between the posts, recording two saves and only allowing one goal past her, improving her record on the year to 3-1-0.

VSU improves to 6-5-2 all-time with West Alabama and 4-1-1 in Valdosta. The Blazers turn around to host Alabama Huntsville on Sunday at 1 p.m. for senior night.
