Kiley Robb were named to the Academic All-District Team ® as selected by CoSIDA, announced Thursday by the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The three selections for the Blazers were the most of any school in the region. The trio will move onto the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration, which will be announced in June.
In looking at the district honorees besides the Blazers' three selections, Palm Beach Atlantic had two honorees as the only other school with multiple selections. In the GSC, Mississippi College had one selection, along with Lee, Alabama Huntsville, West Georgia and Auburn Montgomery. The district is comprised of the GSC, Sunshine State Conference and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Garrett, a Valdosta native, has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.85 in biology. She had another strong start to the season in 2020 for the red and black, before the season was ended in March due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Garrett started 21 games for VSU this season with 15 hits, scored nine runs with one home run, three doubles and drove in 13. She slugged .404 with nine walks and had a .400 on base average. Garrett had two multi-hit games with four multi-RBI contests and ended the season with a five-game hitting streak and reached base in the final 12 games of the season for the 18-5 Blazers.
This is her second year of earning Academic All-District honors as selected by CoSIDA. She has played in 143 games with 130 starts for her career in Titletown. Garrett has 104 hits in 361 at bats for a .288 average, while scoring 85 runs with 19 doubles, 15 home runs and driven in 58. She has slugged .465 and walked 50 times with being hit eight times and a .385 on base average. Garrett earned All-Gulf South Conference Academic Honors in 2019 and was named to the GSC Academic Honor Roll. She also earned D2CCA All-Region honors and D2CCCA Honorable Mention All-America accolades as a junior.
Hill, a native of Lake Park, Ga., has a 3.96 GPA in health sciences and was off to a terrific start to the season in 2020 on the field as she started all 23 games for VSU. Hill led the nation in home runs with 11 round-trippers and was second nationally in on base average at a .531 clip, while slugging a team-best .984 for sixth nationally. Hill was eighth nationally in total bases with 63 for second in the GSC, while hitting a team-high .406 for the season with 26 hits in 64 at bats. She had a team-high 25 RBI and drew 16 free passes for most on the team. Hill recorded 135 putouts in 142 chances with seven assists and no errors at first base for the Blazers. She has six multi-hit games for second on the team and had a season-high ten-game hitting streak, while reaching base in 15-straight games during the season to lead the team. Hill was named GSC Player of the Week once and had three games of two home runs to lead the team. She drove in seven on a 3 for 3 game with two runs scored and two home runs versus Albany State (2/27/20). Hill has a 3.96 GPA in health sciences.
For her three-year career at VSU, she has played and started in 125 games and collected 103 hits in 345 at bats for a .299 average. She has 19 doubles, 25 home runs and driven in 83 for a .571 slugging percentage. She has drawn 63 walks and been plunked eight times for a .417 on base average for her career. She has 715 putouts in 794 chances with 63 assists and 16 errors for a .980 fielding percentage after transferring to VSU from USC-Upstate before her sophomore season. This is her first time being named to the Academic All-District Team as selected by CoSIDA as she earned GSC Academic Honor Roll accolades in 2019.
Robb, a native of Joliet, Ill., has a 3.90 GPA in health sciences also had a great sophomore campaign for the Blazers. She finished second on the team in 2020 in batting average a .353 clip in 23 starts. She recorded 24 hits for second on the team and scored 22 runs also good for second on the team. Robb hit four doubles with seven home runs and drove in 19. She slugged .721 and walked 11 times for a .438 on base average for eighth in the GSC. She had 45 putouts with 26 assists for a .986 fielding percentage and one error. Robb earned GSC Player of the Week honors once and had five multi-hit games and four multi-RBI contests. She finished the shortened season with a six-game hitting streak and reached base in 12-straight games during the season. She finished 17
th nationally in home runs and second to Hill on the team, while she was eight in the GSC in total bases with 49.
She had a standout redshirt freshman campaign in 2019 hitting .291 and led the team in home runs with 12, while belting eight doubles and scored 42 runs to tie for the team-lead. She had 40 RBI for the season to lead the team and slugged .570 for second on the team. She earned GSC Academic Honor Roll accolades last season.
