VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State senior offensive lineman
Brandon Kemp signed a priority free agent contract with the Tennessee Titans Saturday, following the 2020 NFL Draft.
Kemp, a native of Atlanta, had an outstanding career for the Blazers as he earned D2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-America Second Team honors this season. Kemp was named First Team All-Gulf South Conference in 2019, and was a second team all-league performer in 2018. Kemp helped lead the Blazers to an incredible GSC-record 25-straight victories from the final game of 2017 through the regular season in 2019.
This past season, Kemp helped anchor an offensive line that was fourth nationally in total offense at 522.1 yards per game to lead the conference. Kemp blocked for D2CCA Super Region Two Player of the Year in quarterback
Rogan Wells and the line helped the Blazers to 260.2 yards rushing per game for 11
th nationally and first in the GSC. The team passed for 261.9 yards per game for 36
th nationally and second in the conference. The Blazers finished the season with a 10-1 record overall and were a perfect 8-0 in the GSC winning their second-straight conference title and eighth in program history. VSU finished fifth in the final American Football Coaches Association final poll.
In 2018 in the Blazers' run to their fourth national championship since 2004, Kemp played in 12 games and started 11. He blocked for Wells, who was the Harlon Hill Award national runner-up, and the Blazers led the nation in scoring at a blistering 52.0 points per game, setting both the VSU and school record for scoring in a season.
As a redshirt freshman in 2016, Kemp started every game on the offensive line and led the team to the playoffs with an 8-3 record. He earned first team all-league honors and was a first team all-region honoree. For his career, he played in 41 games with 38 starts as he went a staggering 37-8 for his career in Titletown.
Kemp joins former Blazers Kenny Moore (2013-16) with the Indianapolis Colts, Stephen Denmark (2015-18) with the Chicago Bears, Iseoluwapo Jegede (2016-18) with the Indianapolis Colts and Joe Fortson (2016-18) with the Kansas City Chiefs as players who now are on NFL teams. Denmark was drafted last season in the seventh round of the draft, marking the fifth player in Blazer history to be drafted.
