VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 5 Nova Southeastern Sunday afternoon at the VSU Tennis Complex. VSU fell to 1-2 on the year, while NSU improved to 3-0.

Nova Southeastern duo of Karolina Snita and Diane Follin-Arbelet downed sophomore Birte Langestein and freshman Julia Saving, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles, while VSU tandem of Hera Bork Brynjarsdottir and freshman Rachelle Starreveld won at No. 3 doubles over Tingting Pei and Isabella Lowrey, 6-3.

The doubles point came down to the top spot in the lineup, as VSU sophomore duo of Eva Rivoal and senior Estee Widdershoven gave top-ranked nationally duo of Sarah Wardenburg and Natalie Espinal everything they had, falling 6-4.

In singles, NSU used wins at Nos. 3, 6, and 4 to clinch the win, but Widdershoven gave Espinal, ranked fourth nationally in singles, a good match, falling 6-1, 6-4.  Starreveld held her own at No. 5 as Celia Montero won, 6-4, 6-2.

The Lady Blazers open the 2020 Gulf South Conference slate on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at The VSU Tennis Complex versus Shorter.
