VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to Georgia Gwinnett Saturday morning at the VSU Tennis Complex. VSU fell to 1-1 on the year, while Georgia Gwinnett improved to 2-0.
The Grizzles won the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 for the doubles point. Georgia Gwinnett had wins at No. 1, 4 and 6 to win the match. VSU
Eva Rivoal lost 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles to No. 4-ranked Tereza Koplova, while sophomore
Rachel Chan-Yaneff lost at No. 6, 6-1, 6-1. Senior Estee Widdershoven lost to No. 2-ranekd Maria Genovese at the top spot in the lineup.
The Blazers continue at home on Sunday as they face No. 5-ranked Nova Southeastern and then will open Gulf South Conference play on Tuesday at 2 p.m. versus Shorter.
