VALDOSTA, Ga. – The No. 19 Valdosta State men's tennis team continues its long homestand to begin the season, hosting three more important over the next six days at the VSU Tennis Complex.
VSU battles No. 25 Embry-Riddle at 2 p.m. Friday, while facing No. 10 Lynn on Sunday at 1 p.m. and then will return to Gulf South Conference play on Tuesday, Mar. 3, hosting Auburn Montgomery at 3 p.m.
VSU is 3-2 on the year after a 4-1 win over Rollins last Saturday. VSU jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Rollins got its lone win at No. 5 singles and then junior
Adam Kalivoda clinched the match with a straight-set win at No. 6, 6-4, 6-2.
Embry-Riddle enters 4-0 on the year and 2-0 in Sunshine State Conference play. The Eagles are 2-0 in Division II with a 7-0 win over Rollins and a 6-1 win at Palm Beach Atlantic, along with wins over Florida National and Ave Maria.
The Eagles are 21-3 in singles this spring as Andres Donayer is 4-0 and No. 33 nationally at No. 2 singles this year. He is the lone Eagle ranked in the final fall rankings by the ITA. Juan Ortiz Couder is 4-0 at No. 1 singles, while Alexis Guedy is 4-0 at No. 3 singles. Ortiz Couder is a team-best 14-1 in singles this season, including play in the fall.
In doubles, Donayre and Ortiz Couder are ranked 22
nd nationally as they are 13-3 overall and 4-0 in dual matches at the top spot in the Eagles' doubles lineup. Guedy and Lucas Bos are 4-0 at No. 2, while Fernando Alonso and Andrej Omeragic also are 4-0 at No. 3.
Lynn is 3-1 this spring and 1-1 in the Sunshine State Conference as it lost to Florida Southern, 5-2, and defeated Rollins 4-3. Lynn also has wins over St. Thomas (Fla.) and Ave Maria. The Fighting Knights face Keiser on Thursday, before coming to Valdosta for Sunday's match. Lucca Baptista is ranked 17
th in the latest ITA singles rankings, released at the end of last fall.
AUM is 2-1 on the year and 1-0 in GSC play as it defeated Shorter 7-0 earlier this season. The Warhawks will play at Young Harris College on Saturday, then face No. 10 Lynn Monday in Valdosta, before facing VSU on Tuesday. The Warhawks are 10-8 in singles duals this spring, while going 4-5 in doubles.

Florian Simbozel also is 4-0 in singles at No. 2. Freshman

Edward Etty and Kalivoda are 2-2. Sophomore
Robert Cizek is 1-3 in singles at No. 5.
Nguyen and Simbozel are 3-0 at No. 1 doubles and ranked eighth nationally in the latest ITA Rankings. Etty and Mack are 4-0 this year at No. 2 doubles, while Cizek and Kalivoda are 3-1 at No. 3 doubles.
