VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's basketball team returns home to host Auburn Montgomery Saturday at 2 p.m. at The Complex for Hall of Fame Weekend.
The Lady Blazers are 13-5 and 5-5 in Gulf South Conference play after a 97-74 victory at Shorter on Saturday. thand Union is receiving votes. Lee leads the D2SIDA South Region poll, followed by Delta State and Tampa is third. Union sits fourth, followed by Montevallo and Benedict who are tied for fifth. VSU sits ninth in the D2SIDA region ranking this week.

Delaney Bernard had a team-high 17 points leading four Lady Blazers in double figures as the team shot 57.3 percent for the game. Junior
Kayla Bonilla added 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while junior
Germani Abram added 16 points on 6 of 7 from the field and 4 of 4 from the line for season-highs in both points and field goals made. Sophomore
Abby Rouse added a season-high 14 points off the bench. VSU raced out to a 14-3 lead and never looked back.
Auburn Montgomery enters the week with a 9-8 record overall and a 2-7 mark in the GSC. The Warhawks play at West Florida on Thursday, before coming to Valdosta for Saturday's matchup. AUM lost 64-59 last time out against Montevallo at home, and has gone 3-2 in its last five games. The Warhawks are led by Jordan Brewster who leads the team averaging 12.5 points per game. She is 70 of 182 from the field and 60 of 158 from beyond the arc. Victoria Morales is second in scoring at 12.4 points per game and she leads the team in rebounding at 9.0 per game. Morales is 84 of 183 from the field (.459) and 21 of 55 from beyond the arc. Morales has a team-high 25 blocks and 38 assists, while she is second in steals with 20. Caitlin Carter leads the team from the free throw line at 45 of 61 (.738) as she is third in scoring at 11.8 points per game.
As a team, the Warhawks are shooting .379 from the field on 364 of 961, while going 126 of 318 from beyond the arc (.331) and 172 of 237 from the line (.726). The Warhawks are averaging 60.3 points per game and 38.1 rebounds per game, while allowing 61.6 points per game and 38.9 rebounds per contest. Teams are shooting .368 against AUM (374-1017) and are just 88 of 304 from beyond the arc (.289), while going 211 of 309 from the line (.683).

VSU leads the series with AUM at 4-0 since the Warhawks joined the GSC in 2017-18. The Lady Blazers have won three of four of the meetings by double-digits with the lone single-digit victory coming in a 55-49 win last season in Montgomery, Ala.
