VALDOSTA, Ga. – Behind four starters in double figures, the Valdosta State men's basketball team returned to the friendly confines of The Complex with a thrilling 84-62 victory over unbeaten and No. 6-ranked Alabama Huntsville Sunday afternoon. VSU had not played since Nov. 30, prior to Sunday's contest.
The Blazers (7-2, 2-1 GSC) outscored UAH 42-30 in the second half after leading 42-32 at intermission, but the Chargers, who were picked first in the preseason Gulf South Conference poll, pulled within four at 48-44 with 15:28 left, but a triple at the other end from sophomore
Imoras Agee pushed the lead back to seven.
Following a bucket from Seth Swalve at 14:11 for a 51-46 VSU lead, the Blazers then went on a 21-6 run for a 72-52 lead with 7:52 left capped with a layup from Agee. He finished with 17 points for the second-highest scorer on the team on 7 of 13 from the field with three triples. Senior
Clay Guillozet had a game-high 25 points on 9 of 11 from the field, while going 7 of 7 from the line and pulling down eight rebounds with five assists and one steal. Guillozet now has 963 points in his VSU career after transferring to VSU from West Liberty, following his freshman season. He also has 466 rebounds in his VSU career.
VSU denied the Chargers their best start in program history as UAH fell to 8-1 on the year and 2-1 in league play. UAH was led by 15 points from JJ Kaplan as he was 6 of 9 from the field with one triple and a game-high nine rebounds. Swalve added 13 points on 5 of 10 shooting with three free throws.
The Blazers shot 53.4 percent for the game on 31 of 58, while going 4 of 17 from beyond the arc and 18 of 20 from the line. VSU dominated the glass to the tune of 39-27 and 33-23 on the defensive end as UAH entered ninth nationally in defensive rebounds at 31.00 per game. UAH also was 13
th nationally and second in the league in scoring defense holding teams to just 62.8 points per game, while the 20
th-ranked 3-point shooting team was 8 of 13 from beyond the arc Sunday, as the Chargers entered making 11.1 treys per game for the season. The 84 points allowed on Sunday marked the most UAH has allowed all season.

Tyler Edwards had one of his best games in a Blazer uniform as he went 6 of 9 from the field with seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals for 14 points, while senior
Darrell Jones had ten points and eight rebounds for the game.
The Blazers now have won three-straight against UAH and four of six.
A trey from Dalton Barkley at 10-9 with 16:21 left in the first half was the Chargers' only lead of the contest. A 7-0 run by the Blazers with a triple from sophomore

Swalve pulled UAH within 16-12 with 12:23 left in the first, but the Blazers went on a 16-7 run for a 32-19 lead with 6:22 left in the half for the largest margin of the first period. VSU led 42-32 at intermission as the team shot 51.7 percent for the half on 15 of 29, while struggling from beyond the arc at 2 of 12 and was 10 of 12 from the line. UAH was 12 of 28 from the field for the half, 4 of 14 from range and was just 4 of 6 from the line.
The Blazers return to action Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. at The Complex versus Lee University in a Gulf South Conference matchup, while they will close the 2019 portion of the schedule Thursday at 8 p.m. versus Thomas University in a non-conference game also at The Complex.
