The Basics:

THE LEAD: The Valdosta State Blazers volleyball team dropped a close contest against Auburn Montgomery on Friday evening, falling three sets to two.
 
First Set: 
	- VSU used a .302 hitting percentage and 19 kills to pull away with the first set.
 
	- The Blazers used multiple runs to over come a late rally from the Warhawks.
 
	- AUM only hit .205 in the first set, dooming the Warhawks.
 
Second Set: 
	- The Blazers struggled in the second set, but were able to string together a couple of runs to keep it close.
 
	- Nine errors hurt the Blazers, as they dropped the second set after a close back and forth battle.
 
	- Auburn Montgomery held off a late rally from VSU, to take the second set.
 
 
Third Set: 
	- VSU jumped out to a quick 8-3 lead.
 
	- AUM used a 14-5 run to take a 17-13 lead.
 
	- Both teams battled back and forth tied at 25
 
	- VSU rattled off back-to-back points to take a pivotal third set.
 
 
Fourth Set: 
	- AUM cruised in the fourth set, behind a .429 hitting percentage.
 
	- VSU only had nine kills with only a .097 hitting percentage.
 
	- AUM jumped ahead and never looked back to set up a pivotal final set
 
 
Fifth Set: 
	- VSU jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead.
 
	- AUM went on a 6-2 run of their own, tying the set at eight points apiece.
 
	- Both teams battled back and forth as AUM held a 13-12 advantage.
 
	- The Warhawks tallied back-to-back points to take the set and match.
 
 
Inside the Numbers: 
	- VSU committed 26 errors, with nine in the second set.
 
	- The Blazers finished with 64 kills and a .193 hitting percentage
 
	- Sophomore Jessie Mooney (15 kills and 13 digs) and senior Dariah Powell (14 kills and 19 digs) both tallied double-doubles.
 
	- Junior Rebecca Sills totaled 22 digs, four assists and two aces.
