FAIRFIELD, Ala. – Kasie Johnson recorded the second perfect game in Valdosta State softball history to highlight a midweek doubleheader sweep (17-0, 9-1) over Miles on Wednesday afternoon in Fairfield, Ala.

Johnson's sparkling performance in game one marked the first perfect game since Krystle Robinson accomplished the feat in a 5-inning 19-0 win over Lambuth on April 2^nd, 2011. Furthermore, Johnson's historic effort made her the 31^st pitcher in Gulf South Conference history to record a perfect game. Hers is the first 7-inning perfect game in Blazer softball history and also represented her second no-hitter of the year. The junior is now 7-2 on the season.
 
While Johnson and catcher Lacey Crandall teamed up to retired 21 straight in the opening game, the Blazers piled on the Golden Bears offensively with 17 runs scored, 10 of which came in the final inning. Brandy Morgan's late long ball lifted the senior up to 46 career homers, which places her third all-time in Blazer softball history, behind only Courtney Albritton (75) and Marti Littlefield (56).
 
In game two, as the Blazers slugged for nine runs, Kathryn Carter picked up the victory to improve to 9-3 on the year. Heather Robinson crushed her second homer of the day in game two, lifting her season total to six and her career total to 36. The career total places Robinson sixth on Valdosta State's all-time leaderboard, just one behind Blazer Hall of Famer Alyssa Shirey.
 
With the pair of victories, Valdosta State improved to 26-7 overall on the season. The Golden Bears fell to 6-21 with the two losses.
 
The Lady Blazers will continue their current road trip this weekend in Jackson, Tenn. with a three-game set against Union. The series kicks off with a Saturday doubleheader at 2:00 p.m. EST.
