THE LEAD – The Valdosta State volleyball team swept a Gulf South Conference match over visiting Union University for its fourth-straight win Saturday evening at The Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Blazers broke a 4-4 tie in the first set with five-straight serves from senior Chloe Chubilleau for a 9-4 lead.
- A kill from junior Kayla Widera gave VSU its largest lead of the initial set at 17-9 and then swelled the lead to 24-14, before settling for a 25-18 win.
- In the second set, VSU scored eight of the first ten points of the set, but Union used a pair of big runs, including a 13-3 run for a 23-22 lead, but the Blazers dug deep and an attack error on the Bulldogs tied the set and junior Katie McInnis came up with a big kill for set point and a 25-23 win.
- VSU broke a 9-9 score in the third set with a kill from Chubilleau and never trailed the rest of the set.
- The Blazers kept Union at arm's length the rest of the set, before stretching the lead to five at 20-15 and a timeout by the Bulldogs.
- A pair of sophomore Tammy Reyes-Perez kills and an attack error ended the match at 25-17.Â

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- For the match, VSU hit .260 with 37 kills, 11 errors in 100 swings, while recording two solo blocks and ten assisted.  VSU had four service aces in the match.
- Union hit .198 with 40 kills and 18 errors in 111 swings.  The Bulldogs had five aces with ten assisted blocks.
- McInnis paced the Blazers with 13 kills and eight digs, while senior Lindsey Robinson added 12 kills and freshman Jessie Mooney had 11 digs.
- Reyes-Perez had 26 assists in the match.
- Union was led by 13 kills from Delaney Peterson, while Abbie Rahn had 14 digs to lead the match.
- The four match winning streak is a season-long for the Blazers as the team is now 7-2 at home this season.
