VALDOSTA, Ga. - Valdosta State poured in 15 three-pointers and
Beau Justice hit a new career mark in Blazer basketball's 104-81 Gulf South Conference win over Auburn Montgomery on Friday night at The Complex in Valdosta, Ga.
The victory marked the ninth straight for the Blazers and added to a streak of 19 consecutive home wins dating back to the 2016-17 season. The Blazers improved to 16-2 with the win and lifted their GSC record to 9-1 in Gulf South Conference play. Meanwhile, the Warhawks fell to 7-10 overall and 3-7 against league opponents.
Justice hit four shots within the first four minutes of the game to account for 10 of Valdosta State's first 12 points. The early surge by the Blazer junior was a sign of things to come, as the Peebles, Ohio native fueled VSU's attack all night long and finished with a career high 32 points. The point total topped his previous high mark of 31 points, which he scored against Lynn during the first month of his sophomore season on November 26th, 2016 against the Lynn Fighting Knights. Justice finished the night with 13 field goals on 22 attempts, and six of those makes were from long distance.
Four other Blazers reached double digits in the scoring column, as
Jimmy Kodet scored 17,
Clay Guillozet and
KJ James notched 16 each, and
Winston Morgan added 11. As a team, the Blazers committed just four turnovers on the night and shot for a whopping 56 percent in front of a large, lively crowd of 1,831.
