PENSACOLA, Fla. - Valdosta State volleyball's woes continued on Tuesday night in Pensacola, Fla., as the Blazers fell 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-16) to the No. 20 West Florida Argonauts.
The Gulf South Conference result dropped the Blazers to 10-15 overall and 5-8 in league play. Meanwhile, the Argonauts improved to 23-6 overall and held their perfect conference record intact at 13-0.
Valdosta State showed a respectable start in the match with a .233 offensive effort in the opening frame. West Florida negated the performance, however, with a .364 hitting percentage of their own.
The match took a downward turn from that point forward, as UWF used the 17-kill performance of Jordyn Poppen to cruise through the final two sets for the three-set triumph.
Sydney Chick, who recently set a new mark for digs in a single game with 39 last weekend against Shorter, lifted 14 digs. On offense, Tristyn Sells led the way with nine kills. Sara Dandridge led the team in asists with 19.
Valdosta State will return to action on the road in Mobile, Ala. to face Spring Hill in non-conference action. The match is slated for a 7:00 p.m. EST start on Friday, November 3.
