Volleyball Torches Spring Hill in 3-1 Non-Conference Win

MOBILE, Ala. - The Valdosta State volleyball team returned to form on Friday night for a 3-1(16-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-21) non-conference win over Spring Hill in Mobile, Ala.

Valdosta State fell in the opening set, scoring just 16 points in the opening frame. It was all Blazers from that point forward, as VSU never allowed SHC to score more than 21 points in the final three sets.

The Blazers were led by setter Sara Dandridge, who recorded double-digits in the kill column for the first time this season and the third time in her career. The 12 kills for the junior matched a career-high and fueled a triple-double performance that included 30 assists and 11 digs.

As a team, the Blazers hit .177 on the attack against a .150 effort by the Badgers. Sydney Chick led the Blazers on defense with 20 of VSU's 73 digs, and Katie McInnis racked up four block assists and one solo block to pad Valdosta State's seven block total in the match.

Along with Dandridge's well-rounded effort, Kayla Widera connected on 10 kills in 17 attempts with just one error for a hitting percentage of .529 on the night.

With the win, the Blazers improved to 11-15 overall, while Spring Hill fell to 26-4 on the season.
