BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Valdosta State volleyball team saw a challenging weekend come to a bitter conclusion with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-17) loss to the Florida Southern on the final day of the SSC/GSC Crossover in Birmingham, Ala.

Florida Southern controlled the contest throughout the afternoon, starting with a .333 hitting percentage in the opening set. The Mocs faded slightly in the final two sets, but remained efficient with .272 and .222 hitting efforts during the final two frames, respectively.

Valdosta State's back row eclipsed Florida Southern's performance with 49 digs against 46 for the Mocs. Valdosta State was unable to establish a defensive presence at the net, however, and notched just one block throughout the entirety of the match.

Seven Blazers tallied at least one kill in the contest, and Chloe Chubilleau led the way with eight. Meanwhile, Sara Dandridge offered up 26 assists, and Sydney Chick recorded a team-high 18 digs.

Valdosta State will look forward to being back on their home court in their next matchup, which is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17th at The Complex.
