Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga. – A season high output of 21 hits for Augusta State on Wednesday led to the demise of the Valdosta State baseball team, as the Blazers suffered a 14-2 defeat at the hands of the Jaguars in a non-conference loss on Wednesday in Augusta, Ga.

Greg Guilliams cycled through seven different pitchers in the contest, but the Jaguars pressured the Blazers throughout and scored one or more runs in seven of their eight offensive opportunities.
Augusta's biggest inning came early in the contest, as Clint Hardy led off the bottom of the first with a double to spark a four-run inning that included four runs scored on three Jaguar hits and one Blazer error.
Trailing 10-0 in the sixth,
Marcus Sigmon struck for his fifth homer of the year in the form of a solo shot with two outs to put the Blazers on the board. As a team, the Blazers tallied nine hits in the skirmish, but David Hagelston managed to scatter those hits throughout the day and forced VSU to strand 10 runners in the contest.
Starter
Troy Massaro took the loss for VSU and fell to 1-2 on the year after allowing 11 hits and 10 runs over four innings of work. The Blazers record dropped to 14-10 overall on the year, while the Jaguars improved to 14-10.
Leading performers on the day for Valdosta State included Sigmon,
Ryan Smith, and
Ryan Slaughter who each tallied two hits in the game and accounted for six of the Blazers' nine hits.
Valdosta State now turns its attention back to Gulf South Conference play with a three-game series this weekend in Jackson, Tenn. against the Union Bulldogs. Play begins with a doubleheader on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. EST.
