West Florida Defeats Volleyball 3-0

VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Valdosta State volleyball team's road woes continued on Tuesday night in Pensacola, Fla., as the Blazers dropped a 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-12) Gulf South Conference match to the West Florida Argonauts.

The loss moved Valdosta State to 12-14 overall and evened up the squad's conference record at 8-8. West Florida, meanwhile, improved to 20-8 overall and bumped their conference record up to 13-3 against conference opponents.

Corisha Smith fueled the attack for the Argonauts and overcame Valdosta State's defensive effort with nine kills, while Jordyn Poppen and Kathryn Torre each added eight.

As a result, the Argonauts jumped out in front early in the match and went on to hit .241 over the course of the three sets. In contrast, the Blazers struggled to find rhythm, despite outperforming UWF 57-55 in the dig column.

Antia Rodriguez-Sanchez blasted a team-high six kills in the match, while Susanna Peonia and Ashley Miller added five and four kills, respectively.

Valdosta State returns home for the final weekend of the regular season schedule, beginning with Christian Brothers on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and wrapping up on Saturday for Senior Day against Union at 1:00 p.m.
