Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga.- The Valdosta State women's soccer team took the field for the last time this season as they faced the Gulf South Conference Lady Hawks of Shorter and closed out with a 2-2 double-overtime draw.
During the first half, the Blazers did a thorough job at spreading out Shorter's defense with eight shots on goal compared to the Lady Hawk's five. However, it wasn't until 21:23 on the clock when Madison Morlock snuck one past
Alyssa Curtis and allowed the Lady Hawks to take a 1-0 lead over the Blazers.
Valdosta State took the field for the second half with revenge as senior
Kayla Robles blasted the ball past Shorter's goalie to tie the score at 1-1. The senior was just getting warmed up, and shortly after, She connected again for her second goal on the night to give Valdosta State the edge over Shorter, 2-1.
The Lady Hawks were persistent, and junior, Chanel Mosley, came up with a huge header at 34:19 mark to tie the score back up at 2-2. The two teams battled it out for the remaining minutes of regulation, but eventually called it a draw.
Robles closed out the season with a stellar performance, scoring two goals on the night to boost her final week total to four.
With a tie as the end result, the Valdosta State Blazers saw their season come to a close with an overall record of 1-11-5 and 1-7-4 in GSC action. The Lady Hawk's finished with a 1-14-2 overall record and 0-10-2 in conference play.
