VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Valdosta State Blazer volleyball team kept their streak alive on Tuesday night at The Complex with a 3-1 (25-18, 25-8, 24-26, 25-15) win over the Mississippi College Lady Choctaws.

The contest represented Valdosta State's first Gulf South Conference matchup of the 2015 season, and pushed the Blazers to a perfect 5-0 record on the season, 1-0 in GSC play. Meanwhile, the Lady Choctaws fell to 1-8 overall and 0-1 in league play.

After two strong opening sets, Mississippi College slipped past VSU in the third set to claim a 26-24 victory. The Blazers bounced back, however, with a dominant 25-15 win in the fourth and final set.

Lea Jaklen posted eye-popping numbers offensively for Valdosta State with 21 kills and just four errors in 36 attempts. The senior swung for a .472 hitting percentage, while adding three digs and two blocks.

Additionally, the Blazers saw outstanding efforts from Susanna Peonia and Jessica Codato, who each posted .444 percentages on offense. Codato's performance included five kills on nine attempts, while Peonia racked up eight kills and no errors in 18 attempts.

On the defensive side, Ashley Miller led at the net with five blocks and Antia Rodriguez-Sanchez chipped in with five blocks of her own. Libero Natalia Campos anchored the defensive effort on the back row with 12 digs in the match. The Blazers tallied 20 blocks in the match as a team and picked up 53 digs. As a result Mississippi College was able to muster just a .008 hitting percentage on the night.
