VALDOSTA, Ga. - For the second week in a row, Valdosta State faces one of the top teams in the Gulf South Conference as the Blazers host West Georiga at Billy Grant Field Friday and Saturday.

Valdosta State enters the weekend with a 22-13 record, including a 13-9 mark in GSC play, which places the Blazers fifth in the league standings. Meanwhile, the Wolves are 24-11 on the season and 16-8 in GSC play, which is good enough for third in the league standings.

The game features one of the top offenses in the conference versus one of the league's top pitching staffs. Valdosta State enters the weekend first in the conference with a .343 batting average and is second in runs scored at 285 and in home runs at 37. Meanwhile, UWG is second in the conference with a 3.14 team earned run average as well as in opponents batting average at .247. Whereas the Blazers average 8.2 runs per game, West Georgia allows just 3.6 per game.

Meanwhile, Valdosta State is seventh in the Gulf South Conference statistics with a 4.93 team ERA and fifth in opponents batting average at .264. The Wolves are eighth in the league with a .285 batting average and fourth in runs scored with 232. VSU allows 5.4 runs a contest while West Georgia scores 6.4 a game.

The series begins with a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Friday followed by a single game at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
