VALDOSTA, Ga. - Valdosta State hits the road for the final time this season in Gulf South Conference play as the Blazers travel to Cleveland, Tenn. to take on Lee in a three-game series.

Valdosta State enters the weekend with a 24-14 record, including a 15-10 mark in GSC play, which places the Blazers fifth in the league standings. Meanwhile, the Flames, who are in their second year of transitioning to the NCAA Division II ranks, are 24-15-1 on the season and 13-12-1 in GSC play.

Valdosta State is fighting to earn a spot in the 2015 Gulf South Conference Tournament, of which six teams will advance. VSU enters this weekend with a magic number of four to advance to the tournament, with any combination of Blazer victories and losses by North Alabama that add up to that number secures Valdosta State a spot in the tournament.

Valdosta State enters the weekend as one of the top offenses in the Gulf South Conference as the Blazers are second in the league with a .345 batting average and in runs scored at 302. VSU is first in the conference with 99 doubles and second in home runs with 40. Meanwhile, Lee bats .280 as a team and has scored 191 runs.

From a pitching standpoint, the Blazers are sixth in the GSC in team ERA at 4.57. VSU has surrendered 201 runs on the season and  holds foes to a .250 batting average. Lee sports a team earned run average of 3.29 as it has allowed 137 runs whereas Flame opponents bat .244.

Due to rain projected in the Cleveland area on Sunday, the schedule for the series has been altered as the two teams will play a single game beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday followed by a doubleheader at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
