VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Blazers of Valdosta State softball return to action tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. for a non-conference doubleheader against the visiting Florida Southern Mocs at Steel's Diamond at Blazer Park in Valdosta, Ga.
The Mocs come to Valdosta with an 11-7 overall record, while Valdosta State's hot stretch has boosted the team to a 16-2 overall record and a 7-1 record in Gulf South Conference play. The Blazers are riding a six-game winning streak, and remains undefeated at home so far in 2015.
VSU has won nine straight on their home field and have not lost a game at Steel's Diamond since April 6, 2014.
Senior
Courtney Albritton is up to 73 career home runs. She already holds the record for most career homers in the GSC, and is now chasing the overall Division II record of 79 career round-trippers. In addition, the senior slugger has 309 career hits, only five behind the GSC's all-time hit leader, Audrey Williams, who hit 314 for Alabama-Huntsville during her 1998-2001 career.
Following tomorrow's doubleheader, the Blazers will turn their attention to a huge Gulf South Conference weekend tilt against top-ranked North Alabama. The Blazers fall in just behind the Lions at second place on the
GSC leaderboard.
